Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg implements ILSAR

The Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg (SP SPb) has implemented ILSAR – a new unified information and logistics system for production control.

The new system allows for a real-time obtaining and processing of data at all phases of cargo operations. ILSAR users are able to control the approach of railcars, ships and road transport, the state of transport, and the space available at the storage facilities.

Overall, this will allow the port to improve its organisation of handling operations, management of cargo flows, and further planning activities.

ILSAR came online at the sea port on 7 December 2021 and also allows for the digitalisation of internal document flows and data exchange with the company’s key clients. The online document generation is said to cover railway waybills, specifications, acts and statements as well as acceptance and processing of orders.

Additionally, as the information and logistics system is able to integrate with other IT systems, it can also automate accounting and planning throughout the entire chain of cargo operations. Detailed analysis of production processes will allow for the improvement of management decisions and the port’s operational efficiency.

“The introduction of ILSAR is a great step forward for us. We are striving towards a permanent development, improvement of services provided to clients and interaction with the partners. Introduction of advanced digital tools into our stevedoring activities gives us advantages and opportunities to meet the best global standards,” said Andrey Yaroslavtsev, Managing Director of SP SPb.

The information and logistics system includes the following modules:

Intra-port railway logistics

Road transport logistics

Service functions

Warehouse logistics

Port dispatch office

Handling of containers

Customs area cargo traffic

Accounting and planning of production activities

Reports and analytics

Automatic data exchange with other IT/AC systems

The Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg also recently announced that it has completed upgrades to its port infrastructure in a bid to modernise port operations.

As part of its plan for 2021, the port has upgraded its storage facilities, railway infrastructure, power engineering facilities, and repaired its berths.

The port plans to maintain this development through 2022, citing the continued modernisation of its storage, power engineering and railway facilities. Some resources will be allocated for the modernisation of technological and handling equipment.
