DP World San Antonio will receive the Hapag-Lloyd container ship Montevideo Express for the first time

DP World San Antonio receives, for the first time this February 28, the Montevideo Express ship from the German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd . The container ship arrives at the port area from Manzanillo International Terminal, Panama.
The ship, 335 meters long and 51 meters wide, was entered into the Eurosal service this year, which means that it is part of a route that begins in Peru and covers the entire West Coast of South America, the Caribbean and Europe.
In this way, the Montevideo Express will be part of the container ships that make weekly calls in San Antonio on a route considered historic for Chile, having started in the 1980s in Valparaíso and since 2019 in San Antonio. For this reason, the Eurosal service has become one of the most relevant and long-standing connections worldwide.
During its stay in San Antonio, which will last until Thursday, the ship -which transits under the German flag- will unload 1,400 containers and ship 1,100 units.
After its delivery in December 2022, the Montevideo Express, which uses LNG as fuel, served on one of the routes between China and Germany.
This container ship is the third in a series of six container ships with the capacity to move 13,312 20-foot containers. In addition to these ships, the company announced last December that during 2023 they will add 12 ships powered by Liquefied Natural Gas to their fleet.
